Pizza Social: Calabash Gardens (Wells River)

Description

Join us for farm-fresh pizza and a celebration of Calabash Gardens, a regenerative agriculture saffron farm and wildcrafted apothecary in Wells River.

At nearly two acres, Claudel “Zaka” Chery and Jette Mandl-Abramson own and operate the largest saffron farm in Vermont. Calabash received a 2022 NOFA-VT Resilience Grant to convert an on-farm apartment into a processing center for saffron and value-added products, and free housing for employees as part of their commitment to environmental and social justice. RSVP and enjoy dinner baked in NOFA-VT's wood-fired pizza oven, followed by a farm tour. Gluten-free and dairy-free pizza available onsite upon request.

Sliding scale $10-25, BIPOC complimentary. Please pay what you can per person in this range to help cover the cost of the local, organic ingredients, the staff time to operate the pizza oven, and compensation for host farms.
